The tuning filters are simple but well-executed and offer meaningful changes in signature, which can be further tuned with foam inserts. The bass has good slam and a sense of rhythm, and the overall resolution is above average for the price tag. As all our ears are different shapes & size so what I hear as bright or bass heavy -you might hear as dull and Vise-Versa; just something to be mindful of. The cheaper non-tunable version of the D-Fi corresponds to the “all switches down config” – i.e., the least bassy setting of the above graphs. The artwork on the box made me think they sent me a portable music player because the front-facing artwork looks like a portable player with the screen on and some SIMGOT-inspired design on its face. Thankfully, the tone and texture of the experience do not alter that much between nozzle sets, although it is certainly noticeable on the treble side mostly. For sure that its tonality doesn't reach the quality level of some mid-rangers and TOTL single DD sets but its technical aspect gives you an idea and probably a prelude towards the best possible technical performance that most mid-rangers and high-end single dynamic driver sets can only achieve. The inner surface area of the shells is slightly uneven in physical texturing design, they say, which allows for the suppression of standing waves on the inside of each earpiece. Moreover, the exterior of the shells has a magnificent polish job that really invokes a “much more expensive than they actually are” vibe. The midrange is still quite natural; however, it is ever so slightly cooler in tonality, it doesn’t quite have the natural warmth of the red nozzles. Due to the slight decrease in body, there is a slight perceived increase in detail, the upper midrange is still well controlled though with minimal sibilance however it is a little more forward. The presentation is also slightly different, vocals don’t come across quite as up-front and there is a little more space within the soundstage. The sides of the earpieces house tuning switches, and the card pin is needed to flip these. The switches on one of my earpieces are so stiff that they require great force to toggle.
