Description

We measured the USB3 transfer speed with a USB SSD. The average ~340MB/s of throughput should be acceptable for many applications. Since four USB host ports share a single root hub, the transfer rate will be lower if you use multiple USB3 devices at the same time. There is a separate micro-USB port to support the USB 2.0 OTG dual-role interface, too. Well first of all it's a bad idea just to execute random stuff that's on the image, and flashing a u-boot that is just laying around is definitely a bad idea. Power 12v @ .375A +-.025 4.50W start(.398A-.320A,4.78W-3.843W) 4min(.397A-.355A,4.76W-4.26W) 20min(.462A-.366A,5.54W-4.39W) 24min(hang) And technically, there is the official C4 minimal image with Ubuntu 20.04, which has both GPU and VPU support. Also, it uses a Hardkernel officially patched kernel 4.9, specifically made for the C4. But that comes without any Linux desktop environment (Xorg or Wayland) support, just a GPU accelerated framebuffer driver. So, ymmv on that one, you might get good use out of this image depending on your use cases.

I would have preferred to see them wait just a little longer for the imminent S905X4 and add WiFi and BT to the board, which then enables far better use of the 4 USB ports. If I write image from this thread to microSD and trying to boot it with empty or detached eMMC - it boot just fine. The Flutter UI framework powered with Upstream Linux kernel 5.4 and ARM Mali GPU accelerated, the Home Automation example is supplied as a real world embedded Linux system development reference.

Other community forum users have tried their best to explain it to you, but I try to make it a little clearer. This is not how IT works. Devices have certain capabilities and limitations they need specific drivers which must be supported by the hardware vendor as well as the software vendor. I want to do something very similar. I followed what you did up to "From Armbian I was able to delete Mate from the eMMC and flash a new Armbian image". Can you add a few noob instructions on how you did this step? Thanks. I suggest using FireFox for webbrowsing, as it's faster than Chromium and supports YouTube videos up to 720p.Tested with swayWM/Wayland. The KDE edition did only start to the xorg session so not useful yet(but i have not tested if the wayland session can be forced). And the Gnome installation/flashing was broken so i did not test further. It's hard to believe the C4 outperforms the XU4 in mining, it's certainly slow compiling the kernel. Wonder why it does well at some tasks but poorly at others. One problem when using Netboot Installer is that Desktop installation would not be fully completed. Therefore, No bloatware or spyware. Special utilities are completely optional. Suitable for newcomers and professionals. Optimized

Discussion that you have presented does not explain why Windows on ARM does not make a sense, but only why installation Windows on Odroid was impossible on on 10.2020. Many things has been changed same as Windows 10 ARM Insider Preview -> Windows 11 ARM PRO. It is wrong to say that anything make no sense if somebody may need it as a usefull thing. The Bifrost product line: the G-line with graphics chips like the G31, G52 and G71 for example. The Panfrost driver did not support Bifrost until very, very recently. I'll just remind you, because clearly you ignored it the last time: Odroids are primarily designed and sold to business and industries, not hobbyists. All serious and critical applications are Linux based. Windows is a consumer grade OS that is never deployed where serious money is at stake.

HardKernel released several different devices between 2008~2014. RPi had only a SINGLE device the entire time. Also there is A LOT of developing going on for ODROIDs and ARM boards in general most of them are in fact Linux based, which is why you are blind to it. As it seem that for you the only "development" in existing is if a device supports Windows (no matter how crappy the support will be). konsole-20.04.1-3-aarch64 1142,7 KiB 2,43 MiB/s 00:00 [#######################################################] 100%libheif-1.7.0-1-aarch64 187,3 KiB 2,61 MiB/s 00:00 [#######################################################] 100% That is the reason I joined this forum, To try and answer Manjaro related questions. But only Strit have Odroids and HK doesn't recognize Manjaro as s Odroid contributor just because no one from Manjaro posted much on HK Forum. I wouldn't hold my breath with regard to running windows anytime soon. The only example I saw was running (veeery slowly) Windows 2000 on an Odroid XU4, but on top of Linux and via CPU emulation. Regarding Windows on arm sbcs, do you have examples where sbcs can do useful work after booting windows? The rpi videos I've seen show just windows booting to a task manager...
