A treat to look at and play, this Pro-Ject turntable is an upgraded version of the company’s award-winning Debut model and is well worth the extra cash. This one comes with height-adjustable metal feet, a heavier steel platter and best of all, a new electronic speed control to swap between 33 and 45rpm records at the touch of a button. There’s also a 78rpm belt included in the box if you fancy digging out your grandparents’ old records. The adapter is a plastic insert that’s used to play records with different RPMs than what your turntable supports. We like the classic boxy shape, clean lines and wooden finish of this retro turntable, which is a great addition to any bedroom, office or den. The Britannia’s main purpose is to be a multi recording centre for your vinyl, CD’s and Cassettes. With the touch of a button you are able to create recordings of different music formats onto a blank CD, Cassette or MP3 format. No computer or external software is needed, it all happens within the Britannia system.

Available in a wide range of colours orange& blue and cream and a durable chrome finish control panel, the Steepletone retro SRP1R-XP portable record player has a vinyl cabinet and built-in speakers for high-quality sound. But over the years, as vinyl has gained a new level of popularity, manufacturers have become wise to this and they’ve come up with a great solution. This solution comes in the form of reproduced vintage record players. Below you’ll find summaries of the five models I chose, a look at why I chose them, and how they were rated. For that truly retro 60’s and 70’s look, we introduce the Steepletone SRP1R-XP Record Player. With its Semi-automatic 3-Speed turntable and authentic 1970’s styling, this is one record player you can count on to bring that retro vibe to any occasion.

If you love collecting antiques, especially old record players and records, then you know that these old models may be fun to play around with, but they can’t come anywhere near the sound that modern turntables produce.

1. Victrola Retro Bluetooth Record Player

The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO gets top marks for its fantastic sound quality and stylish looks. However, if you’d rather not use a separate preamp, you’d be better off with the Audio Technica AT-LPW50PB, while the Jam Vinyl Bluetooth is a brilliant budget choice for those hoping to just plug in and play. Voucher codes Other great features of the Britannia include, DAB radio, FM radio, Bluetooth receiving for smart phone music streaming.

Cheaper plug-and-play models are a good option for anyone buying their first record player, while those wanting to transfer music onto other devices will require a USB port. If you’re nervous about damaging your vinyl, look for an automatic turntable to operate with the touch of a button rather than manually lifting and lowering the tone arm. Like a lot of the record players, the look is as much of a selling point as the record player itself. You could argue more so. After all, this is pitching itself as a Dansette alternative and Dansettes are rather hip right now, with prices for original players going through the roof. With that in mind, cheaper versions with a similar look will always be popular too. D&L Dansette-style record player with legs Originally known as a gramophone or vinyl player, this device lets you play music by spinning a record on its turntable. A record player houses the necessary components like speakers and an amplifier to play music by itself. This makes it a great option for those that want a simple music player that requires very little set-up.The counterweight balances the tonearm and controls how hard the stylus rests in the grooves. It the stylus sits too heavy, it can damage the record, so the counterweight acts to reduce the weight of the stylus. Collecting records can be a fun and exciting hobby. But it can also introduce you to a totally new way to enjoy your favorite music.

Belt drive tends to be more popular for those listening to their songs at home, whereas direct drive is more likely to be used by DJs spinning records for others. Bear in mind that nearly all systems require an additional external speaker, though some turntables have Bluetooth connectivity for an easy wireless solution. You’ll also need a separate amplifier (known as a phono stage or preamp), unless the player has a built-in preamp. If you can afford to spend more for a turntable that provides the type of sound you’re looking for, go for it. In the long run, the higher priced models will last year after year. The cheap ones will soon need to be replaced. No matter your budget or design preferences, there’s a retro-inspired turntable that will bring new life to your favorite records. 1.
