Musket Drill  Commands            
- Give rest to your musket (from order) In one motion, raise musket from ground and support musket at an angle across the body, pointing up, holding barrel in left hand and supporting lower stock with right hand.                                          
 - Shoulder your Musket Firstly, hold musket out vertically to the front, barrel-up, with right hand holding stock, left hand held out to the left. Secondly step forward with right leg. Thirdly, position musket barrel on left shoulder and support with left hand on top stock, free right hand and place to right side. Fourthly step back with right leg. Fifthly place right hand behind back holding bandelero strap.
- Give rest to your musket (from shoulder) Firstly, grasp musket stock with right hand, moving left hand to side. Secondly, step forward with right leg. Thirdly hold musket out vertically, to the front, barrel-up with right hand holding stock. Fourthly step back with right leg. Fifthly return to supporting musket at an angle across the body, pointing up, holding barrel in left hand and supporting lower stock with right hand.
- Face to the right Rotate on left leg toe, right leg heel clockwise 90 degrees then bring right leg backward, in-line  as required.
- Face to the right about Rotate on left leg  toe right leg heel clockwise 180 degrees then bring left leg around, in-line as required.
-  Face to the left Rotate on right leg toe, left leg heel ant-clockwise 90 degrees then bring left leg backward, in-line as required
- Face to the left about Rotate on right leg  toe left leg heel clockwise 180 degrees then bring lright leg around, in-line as required
- Present your Musket From rest position, bring musket around and shoulder in normal firing position, pointing above heads of enemy. 
- Order your Musket Take attention position facing forward in appropriate files and ranks, with musket on left side, held vertically by the barrel by the right hand,  facing forward.
- Lay Down your Arms  From Order position, slowly kneel down with left knee raised and using right hand lay musket down facing forward, then slowly stand facing forward.
- Recover your Arms & Order From Order position (without Musket) slowly kneel down with left knee raised and using right hand retrieve musket in right hand then slowly stand to achieve Order position facing forward. 
 - Club your Musket & Draw your Sword  Provided musket is NOT loaded, reverse musket so that barrel is held in both hands with stock facing forward with musket firing mechanism facing to the ground. If available, hold musket only with left hand and draw and use sword in right hand (reverse hands if left-handed). Ensure hand holding barrel is palm down.

 

Musket Loading &  Firing  Commands                
- Open your Pan  (*) WIth musket at rest position, match in left hand supporting barrel, musket pointing upward over any heads, open musket pan with right hand.
- Clear your Pan (*) As above, once Pan is Open knock barrel and blow to clear any powder from pan.
- Prime your Pan (*) As above, once Pan is cleared, use free hand to reach powder horn or wooden charge and pour small amount carefully into pan. Any excess powder can be allowed to drop back into horn or wooden charge.
- Shut your Pan (*) As above, once Pan is Primed, close the pan.

- Cast off your Loose  Powder (*)

As above, once pan is shut knock barrel to remove excess powder.
- Blow off your Loose Powder (*) As above, once pan is cast off, blow of any remaining loose powder from the pan.
- Cast about your Musket (*) Put  stock on ground, holding match and musket barrel with left hand, on left side.
- Handle your charge (*) Once Musket is Cast about, reach for next bandelero charge or powderhorn.
- Open your Charge (*) Obtain a charge of powder from powderhorn or open next charge bottle on bandelero.
- Charge with Powder (*) Pour next charge into barrel of musket holding charge with 2 fingers only. A ccess and insert paper wadding into barrel.,
- Draw forth your Scouring Stick (*) Using right hand, withdraw scouring stick.
- Shorten your Scouring Stick Using right hand, rotate scouring stick so that the correct end is available to enter the barrel, shorten by pushing against chest.
- Ram home your charge (*) Using the stick after shortening, insert stick into barrel and ram home wadding and charge holding stick with 2 fingers, one each side of stick.
- Withdraw your Scouring stick (*) Using the stick after ramming home, withdraw the scouring stick.
- Shorten your Scouring Stick  Using right hand, rotate scouring stick so that the correct end is available to enter the stick holder, shorten by pushing against chest.
- Return your Scouring Stick (*) Using right hand, return the scouring stick to the stick holder.
- Recover your Musket (*)  Return the musket to Give Rest position supporting musket with left hand.
- Draw forth your Match (*)  With barrel held by left hand, musket pointing above any heads,  take match in right hand.
- Blow your Coal (*)  Blow the coal end of the match until glowing.
- Cock your Match (*) Without using the trigger cock the firing mechanism so that the match can be fixed
- Fit your Match (*) Fit the match to the firing mechanism and check the match will descend to the closed pan without using the trigger
- Guard & Blow  (*) Place left hand over pan and blow the match to ensure it remains lit.
- Present your Musket  Present the musket in normal firing position pointing over heads of enemy.
- Check your Scouring Stick  Check Scouring stick is in holder NOT in barrel and angle barrel towards corporal or seargant so that the scouring stick is seen to be visible in the holder.
- Open your Pan  With right hand open pan.
- Prepare to Fire Aim.
- Give Fire  Fire using trigger !
- Dismount your Musket  Return to semi-rest position supporting musket with left hand holding barrel.
- Uncock your Match  Remove match and transfer to left hand holding barrel.
- Give rest to your Musket  Return to full Rest position, holding barrel in left hand  (inc match) and supporting lower stock with right hand. 
- Shoulder your Musket Firstly, hold musket out vertically to the front, barrel-up, with right hand holding stock, left hand with match held out to the left. Secondly step forward with right leg. Thirdly, position musket barrel on left shoulder and support with left hand on top stock, and match in Right hand, free right hand and place to right side. Fourthly step back with right leg.
