This is my first podcast where I talk openly about my addiction, recovery and how I am building a life that I never believed I could attain in addiction. Whether you're a binge drinker, an end-of-day wine drinker, or a social drinker, you can transform your life by making a different choice. It isn't just people who know they have a problem who stand to benefit from giving up alcohol – it's everyone. I speak to the amazing Moni, a yoga teacher based in Las Vegas. We discuss her sober story, living in Las Vegas sober and how yoga gave her the extra insight she needed in maintaining sobriety.

How many times have you told yourself ‘never again’ but found yourself repeating the same negative actions of drinking, hangover, regret and repeat? Sober On A Drunk Planet provides an easy 3 step solution to quit drinking alcohol for good. This weeks guest is a Sober On A Drunk Planet multi-season guest - James. You can see his rise through sobriety from his first podcast in season one, where he was a confident know it all to someone celebrating his third year of sobriety and understands a lot more about life as a result. We talk about career progression from drinking and drugging to being sober and dealing with grief. This week's guest is Leo, a DJ with his own record label, who has navigated life in hard mode and now chooses to stay sober so he can make the most of his life. We talk about life as a Dj, sober festivals and what he has learnt from previous sober attempts. Sober On A Drunk Planet: Giving Up Alcohol. The Unexpected Shortcut to Finding Happiness, Health and Financial Freedom by Sean Alexander – eBook Details We talk about overcoming depression, suicide, living with a disability and the amazing things Emily is now up to in her sobriety - it's exactly what sobriety is about, having the time and energy to do EVERYTHING! We discuss what the sober book club is all about, going to Narcotics Anonymous to find connection, crying in public and how sobriety gives her the time to do all the things she didn't do when she was hungover. Highly recommended this book to everyone on this journey. Its so relatable especially for your sobriety journey - whatever stage you are at.

Not only has giving up alcohol been transformational for her own health but also in her career. Listen in as we speak with the only sober recruitment consultant on the planet (probably!). I have an in-depth chat with Ben about corporate culture and how they largely ignore people with addictions (myself included) yet they are willing to help those who state they have a mental illness. I have found so many quotes and facts that resonate so personally which makes it even more enjoyable to read. It's quite light hearted and doesn't really go into medical implementations but more the perception of alcohol vs the reality. The author writes about their personal experience with drugs and alcohol which is that once they started they couldn’t stop. This isn’t everyone’s experience BUT the messaging and overall takeaways are still the same. I speak to Katie about her sober story, navigating life at 25 sober and how she has grown up with a parent in AA. Sobriety is an amazing power to have and it has given me the strength and courage to start my own business, Fitology. Through Life, Fitness and Nutrition coaching I want to help others make the same transformational changes they want to with their own lives as I have with mine.

The most relatable and easy to understand, motivational book I have had the pleasure of reading today.... (In just one sitting too) The author leans in heavily on weight and being ugly and fat when drinking. What a horrible message! Do not read this if you have any body and eating issues. There’s also data that supports if you give up alcohol you can be gravitated to sugar, so you may not loose weight at all.Rob shares his story about how he was watching a star is born on a flight whilst drinking two bottles of wine and that started the process in which he gave up for good. We talk about how rugby (he's a kiwi) and booze go hand in hand, how men get social anxiety as well and how stoicism is a great way to live life. A must read for anyone sober curious and thinking about a new life living alcohol free. I loved the sections on what alcohol does to the body, ie. depleting it of essential nutrients. Then using exercise we can restore dopamine and serotonin depleted by alcohol. The 3 steps are a great way to start or maintain the journey to recovery.

This weeks guest is James, a celebrity hairstylist, who shares his battles with addiction, sobriety and about living a life beyond sobriety.

Why your bank balance will thank you for cutting out alcohol (and it reaches far beyond the money you'll save) The incredible transformation you'll see in your body when you stop drinking (there are subtle side effects you're not even aware of until you stop) Giving up' alcohol might sound daunting... But what are you actually giving up when you're hungover on the sofa all day? Cutting out the booze can transform your life in unexpected ways. Paul speaks about his time in the steel industry, heavy drinking from his twenties and how it all seemed very normal at the time. The story progresses when his drinking turns to morning drinking, the withdrawals he would have from alcohol if he didn't top up and how he got into recovery. As far as tone goes, he went for an emphatic voice, sort of like he was salesman for sobriety. While I believe he feels this way, writing in this style always feels a bit disingenuous to me. The book is filled with lofty promises of endless energy, disappearing anxiety, loads of confidence, career success, fitness, etc. I agree that alcohol can be an impediment to these things, but in my experience quitting drinking doesn't create super-humans. Likewise, I felt like he underplayed some of the challenges associated with total abstinence.
